Situated 27km south of the town of Rethymno, and approximately in the middle of the island of Crete, Spili has everything for the visitor who wants to experience ''natural Crete''. Mount Vorizi which hovers over the town is impressive.

Spili is on the main bus route between the north and south of the island so there are several buses a day. This is why it’s very easy to come even if you don’t have a car. In the daytime activity is centred around the many cafes and tavernas dotted along the main street, and are one of the ''must see'' parts of the area for tourists. Our garden is about 1km from the center of Spili, right after the village cemetery on your way to Rethymno, on your left-hand side. It is clearly signposted, so you won’t miss it! If you come to our shop (Maravel Shop) in the centre of Spili, we will give you directions on how to find our garden. If you are coming from Rethymno, the garden is 1km before you enter Spili, on your right-hand side.

Driving Directions:

  • FROM THE AIRPORTS: From the terminal building at Heraklion and Chania international airports, drive approximately 100 km, following the signs for Rethymno, then Spili.
  • FROM RETHYMNO: Take the road to South Crete through town and follow the signs to Spili and Agia Galini.
  • Drive approximately 27 Km. The signs will direct you to Spili.
  • The Garden is on your right hand-side, 1 Km before entering the vilage (Spili) You’ll clearly see our sign (Maravel Garden).

A herb garden can bring a person a lot of pleasure because there are so many things that can be done with herbs such as herbal crafts, herbal teas and herbal seasonings. On top of this, you get to care and tend for the plants, which, if this is all you do, is enough reason to grow a herb garden. Seeing how the herbs mingle together and enjoying their fragrance are some of the other benefits.
